Visiting the Layout
River City Modelers is located on the top floor of the building at 1130 E. Sprague Ave. in Spokane Washington. Our entrance is on the west side of the building off the small parking lot.
We are proud of our layout and enjoy showing it off, but here are a few things to think about if you are planning on visiting.
The best time to visit is during an “Open House”. These are held two or three times a year, usually in conjunction with the spring and fall train show. Dates and times will appear on this web site as that information becomes available. During the open house there will be trains running on the layout and club members available to greet you and answer your questions.
At other times and particularly if you plan on traveling through Spokane and want to see the layout it is best to call ahead (509) 535-3462 to see if anyone will be there or to arrange to have someone there to show you the layout. If no one answers leave a message with your name and number and we will get back to you. We don’t have regular hours, so it may be a day or so before we see your message. If you want to try and catch someone at the club try between 10 a.m. and noon most days except Thursdays. No guarantee that someone will be there.
If you would like to visit during one of our operation sessions the dates and times will be listed on the club calendar. As things return to normal we hope to get back to a more regular schedule. For the time being we will try to announce operating session at least a week in advance.
Here are a few other items visitors need to keep in mind.

Here are a few other items visitors need to keep in mind.
- Don’t touch! If you are with small children make sure they know they are not to touch.
- Be respectful of member who are operating a train on the layout. When running a train they need to keep their mind on what they are doing and should not be distracted.
- Food and liquids are not allowed in the layout room.
- Above all, have fun and enjoy the layout. It is, after all, a model railroad and it's supposed to be fun.
